About Me

My name is Jackie Jefferson and I am a recent graduate from the University of Georgia. I have a B.A in Entertainment and Media Studies and a B.A in Sociology. I have also completed a certificate in New Media. I grew up in a small suburb just outside of Atlanta with my mom, dad, and older brother.

I aspire to be a Creative Director for commercials and trailers or a Lead Film Editor for scripted television. However, my ultimate goal is to make sure that minorities are represented in media. Film is a big part of socialization and provides a blueprint of society to those who are impressionable. Minority groups are already very susceptible to stereotypes and because film has such a wide influence, it a crucial that there are representatives present to negate negative portrayals. I believe that media can be used in a more impactful way to create positive changes. With the continuation of increasing diversity, representation, and normalization of different topics through media, people will gain further understanding and garner empathy.

In the simplest terms, I am a storyteller. I create to inspire, to improve, and to give a good laugh. If I can make someone smile, then what I have done is worth it. The art of storytelling has never changed. From generation to generation stories have been passed down to entertain, enliven, and ease. My goal is to take storytelling and create empathy and understanding between all groups of people.
